Sportspeople should be on their guard if they experience calf muscle soreness or a swollen calf for no reason.

If they do they should check for these symptoms :-

  • Gradual onset of PAIN
  • SWELLING
  • REDNESS
  • WARMTH to the touch
  • Increased PAIN with Dorsiflexion
  • LEG CRAMPS especially at night
  • Whiteish or Blueish DISCOLOURATION of SKIN
