I totally understand what you’re saying here! I don’t think anyone can realize the inner turmoil and stress experienced as the result of someone surviving and living on with a traumatic brain injury. ESPECIALLY when there aren’t any long lasting permanent, noticeable physical impairments…

People asked, “What do you do?” As all I was doing was trying to survive and had instantly lost a global career, I couldn’t face people without breaking down. Without proper medical and therapeutic intervention, this just became worse for years, resulting in near suicide and increased depression, anxiety and panic attacks. That, coupled with the inability to focus on multiple conversations – or even to absorb what people were saying – made isolation and working on the land with my horses and garden my saving grace.
